Many of us start writing a diary, a blog, stories, poems etc. however, not many keep on doing it. Why is that?
Often we come up with phantastic reasons, such as…
1. A classic: I haven’t been sharing because every time I wanted to and wrote something on a piece of paper, my dog (or dragon) ate it.
But wait! This does not work, does it?
I have no dog (or dragon)… and I don’t write this blog on a piece of paper…
2. An excuse: I haven’t been sharing because I had nothing to share.
Again – humbug! – there were so many things I could have shared: My first big project, next to Salon Bruch Stein; my first art performance; my first real opera performance etc.
So, really, that’s no excuse.
3. Plain stupid: I haven’t been sharing because I didn’t have the time.
What hoax! You can always make time to write, can’t you?
No, really. It’s best I just own up to it.
I haven’t been writing, because I felt I had nothing to share anyone would like to read. Thus, I just stopped and I just deprived myself from putting my thoughts into words.
"Sometimes you have to go on when you don't feel like it, and sometimes you're doing good work when it feels like al you're managing is to shovel shit from a sitting position", states Stephen King (On Writing, Hodder & Stoughton, London: 2000. p.82).
